DONATE BLOOD
Who Can Donate Blood? | Common Reasons for Deferrals | Platelet Donations | Red Blood Cell (ALYX) Donations
Hereditary Hemochromatosis
You should always have something to eat the day you donate blood. Giving blood on an empty stomach can make you light headed. The whole process takes about 25-30 minutes. The actual blood drawing takes about 10 minutes. We will give you something to drink and a sweet after you’ve donated to help replenish your fluids.
Why should I donate blood? To be sure that the product will be there when a person needs it, your donation of one unit of blood allows the blood center to make up to 3 products. Therefore, one donation can potentially save three lives. Every 56 days you are eligible to donate blood.
